Safe Work Australia www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au is the national policy body responsible for the development and evaluation of model work health and safety laws.
The Commonwealth, states and territories are responsible for regulating and enforcing the laws in their jurisdictions.
The model WHS laws have been implemented in all jurisdictions except Victoria and Western Australia; Western Australia is currently consulting on options to implement elements of the model.
You should familiarize yourself with the laws applying in your state or territory as there may be variations between jurisdictions.
